If We Don’t Stop The Agyapa Deal Now, The Upcoming Youth Will Suffer- Mahama Warns – John Mahama has sent a strong warning to Ghanaians concerning the re-emergence of the controversial Agyapa deal. Speaking in an interview with Cape 93. 3FM on Saturday, October 16, 2021, Mahama revealed that the Agyapa deal is bad for the youth.
According to former President Mahama, the Akufo- Addo-led government has sold most of Ghana’s resources in order to obtain loans, and that they are no longer able to sell anything, It’s Ghana’s gold that’s left, and that’s what the Agyapa wants to do. He indicated that the Agyapa deal is insensitive because it is a scheme to mortgage the country’s future and Ghana’s youth to support Akufo- current Addo’s ambitions.
He said that the government has traditionally received a 10% interest in gold royalties, which the Akufo- Addo administration intends to mortgage for loans to spend today. He singled out Finance Minister Ken Ofori- Atta who is also a cousin of the president, accusing him of being a willing participant because his firm always receives a cut of the loans raised.
“They are mortgaging Ghana for everything. They’ve sold everything in order to obtain loans. They are no longer able to sell anything. It’s our gold that’s left, and that’s what the Agyapa wants to do.”
