I’m the first African Dancehall act to win BET – Stonebwoy

Dancehall Artiste, Stonebwoy has said regardless of how people see the BET awards and especially the one he won, he holds it in high esteem because even when he is dead, he will be remembered as the first African Dancehall artiste to have won the BET.

“It is history that I am the first Dancehall/Reggae artiste in Africa to have won the BET. Even if I die they will remember it because it is written and it is there for everyone to see.”

The artiste who was speaking exclusively to Pulse TV recalled that before he went to the venue for the awards, although he could not tell who will win the award, he was very optimistic that a Ghanaian will win.

“Even before I went for the awards program, I was sure that a Ghanaian was going to pick that award. I was not sure who it will be because I and Sarkodie were the only nominees for Ghana. I told my cousin a Ghanaian was going to pick the award and when they mentioned my name I had goose bumps all over and I went up there to pick the award and thanked the world for believing in me.”

Stonebwoy has been nominated for this year’s BET alongside Wizkid, Davido, Tecno and other South African acts.
