Jimin’s Song ‘Filter’ Sets New Record As The First And Only BTS Solo and MOTS:7 Solo To Top iTunes Japan

‘Filter’ has now achieved 115 #1’s on iTunes Worldwide as Japan joins the list – Since its release, Jimin’s solo song “Filter” has been breaking records, and it has continued to do so even after almost a year and eight months. On October 11, the song created a new iTunes record by reaching #1 on the Japan iTunes chart for the first time.

By topping the chart, Filter extended its record as the B-side track with the most number 1s on iTunes history, having now accumulated a total of 115 number 1s around the world.

In addition, it was the first time that Jimin topped the Japan iTunes chart with his solo song, making it a memorable achievement for him and his career path.

Moreover, Filter became the first and only solo song from the Map Of The Soul: 7 album to reach this new peak on the country’s iTunes chart, re-affirming the song’s popularity.

Filter’s record does not just apply when considering BTS solo songs from the MOTS:7 album, but all solo songs released under the BTS discography since the group’s debut. No BTS solo song had ever reached #1 on Japan iTunes before, and so Filter set a new record as the first BTS solo song to achieve this feat.

This new record also posted other achievements for Filter. For instance, the song also became the second-highest overall solo song on iTunes history, the third-highest BTS’ charting song on iTunes worldwide, and the fourth highest-charting song on iTunes worldwide.

As reported on October 12, Filter was holding the first position on the Oricon Daily Digital Singles chart for October 11, with the number of downloads for that day exceeding 2,000.

Furthermore, Filter maintained its first position on iTunes Japan almost 23 hours after it had peaked at the top of the chart.

This is a commendable achievement for Jimin, with fans in Japan having been able to get the song to the top of the chart in just 20 minutes, despite the fact that Japan is the second-largest music market in the world, and therefore one of the most challenging countries for a song to get to the top of the iTunes chart, especially when it is a foreign song. Japanese fans gifted Jimin one of the best birthday presents he could ever receive by supporting his work as they did.

Filter extended its records on streaming platforms as well. On October 13, it surpassed 210 million streams on Spotify, the largest music streaming platform in the world. By so doing, the song extended its record as the fastest Korean B-side song, Korean male solo song, and Korean unpromoted solo track to achieve this feat.

Additionally, Filter continues to be the most streamed solo track from the MOTS:7 album. No other solo song from this album has crossed 150 million streams to 210 million streams. It is also the second most-streamed BTS solo song overall, achieving this milestone in just a year and 8 months approximately.
