On July Fourth, Kanye West revealed that he plans to run for US President and the world hasn’t stopped thinking about it ever since.
West, who is well known for his provocative views and often offensive Twitter rants, has been talking for years about running for political office. Still, few could have expected a bizarre twist of this kind in 2020.
As the world watches and waits for West’s next move, critics are studying what he has already revealed about his campaign, including his choice of running mate.
Kanye West’s Twitter is usually reserved for topics ranging from his latest line of Yeezy clothes or pictures of the four cute children that he shares with his wife, Kim Kardashian. However, on July 4th, West dropped the following bombshell: “we must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for President of the United States.”
The reaction from fans was swift and immediate, with the post getting thousands of retweets and comments.
In the days following his announcement, West opened up to Forbes, revealing some details behind his political plan. West talked about his previous support for President Donald Trump, acknowledging that although he no longer supports Trump, he still thinks that he is “special.”
West also claimed that he was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier in the year and that he is against mandatory vaccinations. There was a lot to unpack from West’s interview — and that’s even before getting to his campaign’s slogan and platform.

Bizarrely enough, Kanye West plans to run under the “Birthday Party,” because, as West stated via US Magazine: “when we win, it’s everybody’s birthday.” When it comes to a campaign slogan, West also has a plan — while his former friend, Donald Trump‘s rallying cry is “Make America Great Again,” West’s slogan is “YES!”
When it comes to hardball political topics, such as immigration policy and tax reform, West admitted that he hasn’t thought that far ahead. “I’m focused on protecting America, first, with our great military. Let’s focus on ourselves first,” he stated.
However, the rapper came out and revealed that he is pro-life, basing his influence on his commitment to “the word of the Bible.” West has certainly made up his mind when it comes to his running mate.

In his Forbes interview, Kanye West revealed that he has chosen Michelle Tidball as his vice-presidential candidate. Very little is known about Michelle Tidball’s association with Kanye West, or why the rapper chose her to be his political partner.
Tidball is a Wyoming-based preacher and life coach, well-known for holding biblical teleconferences and for her online bible study program. Tidball also has a background in mental health services, and claims to have worked as a mental health therapist in the past.
Tidball has also worked as the executive director of Bright Futures Mentoring Program, a nonprofit organization based in Wyoming.
It is thought that West first encountered Tidball in Wyoming, where he has a massive ranch. Still, Tidball has not spoken out since West’s controversial announcement, either to confirm her status as his running mate or to deny it.
It seems likely that in the coming days, Tidball will go public and make some sort of statement, but in the meantime, fans and critics alike will have to speculate about how and why West chose the preacher as his running mate.
