Josep Bartomeu Resigns as Barcelona President – Big news on Tuesday evening in Barcelona. After a meeting held on October 27, President Josep Bartomeu resigned as president of Barcelona.
There’s no more Bartomeu. After a board meeting on Tuesday, October 27th, the under-fire Barcelona manager resigned. Later on Tuesday, Barcelona reported the story.
The Catalan giants called a meeting after the statement from the Catalan government which said that “there are no legal or sanitary impediments” to holding the vote of no confidence.
Bartomeu had been heavily criticized for his role in the possible departure of Messi in the summer. The Argentine said by burofax that he intended to leave the club, and spoke publically against him on many occasions. Gerard Piqué was another of the players known not to have a good relationship with the ex-Barca chief.
Barcelona will thus hold elections to see who the new president will be.
The Spanish side confirmed the news later on Tuesday.
