Weak Structural Policies in The Ghanaian Music Industry – Mr. Bernnett Kwame

Facebook user and CEO of Bello couture Mr. Bernnett Kwame who is currently in Nigeria on a business trip took to his Facebook page to register his displeasure on the influx of foreign music in the Ghanaian music industry….

He wrote…

Sadly this turns to be very true and it’s really boosting up their music industry…Further research by me indicated that a policy implemented by the Nigerian government expects 90% of all media house’s content (music and video) to be strictly Nigerian or of Nigerian origin.
But here in Ghana, both on radio and tv, all we hear all day is only foreign music being played, how will the music industry thrive with such “sidelined” attitude.
It won’t be surprising when F classed artistes from Nigeria charge as much as our A artistes here in Ghana for shows.
What are stakeholders of the music industry doing to put this to an end?What is MUSIGA doing to support our musicians and their careers?

Let’s all be alert and support Ghanaian HIP LIFE music before it dies out on the international Music scene.. All stakeholders must be alerted too on this issue. Let’s all join hands to promote Ghanaian music because it’s our own and that’s all we got……
