YPa (born Elvis Kwabena Osei Owusu) is a rapper, producer and songwriter from Kwahu. Born in 1995, Elvis grew up in Darkuman, Accra. He started writing and performing his own songs at age 15 in Accra Academy, where he had his high school education. YPa quit GIMPA after two years of studying computer programming and joined the Ghana Institute of Journalism to chase his “own dreams” as he puts it. LVx YPa(Elvis the Young Paradisian) currently studies Public Relations at GIJ.
YPa names Eminem and Michael Jackson as his biggest influence although his voice and rap style have been likened to Drake and T.I. On the song “Fairytales” which was produced by his friend Pr Beatz(Prinz), YPa seems to be responding to an ex who has suddenly resurfaced in his life. YPa is one of the few rappers who are bare with their emotions and this character of his gives Fairytales its uniqueness.
