Chevrolet Unveils 2024 All-Electric Silverado

On the 5th of January, Chevrolet introduced the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV at CES 2022, the world’s largest technology exhibition, which took place in Las Vegas, USA (local time).

The Silverado EV, which reinterprets Chevrolet’s flagship pickup truck as an electric vehicle, was built from the ground up on GM’s patented electric vehicle platform, Ultium, to deliver Chevrolet pickup trucks’ inherent strength, driving performance, and usefulness. As a model for electrification, it was implemented.

“Chevrolet kept innovating until the Silverado earned its current reputation,” said Steve Hill, Chevrolet’s vice president of sales, marketing, and service in the United States. “For consumers who own or are considering buying a Silverado, it will establish a new benchmark for the next generation of pickup trucks.”

The Chevrolet Silverado EV consists of two trims, the corporate WT trim and the RST First Edition, and will be released in the spring and fall of 2023, respectively, and the maximum mileage (based on GM) when fully charged reaches 644 km. GM will launch the WT trim first for corporate vehicle customers.

The RST First Edition, the main trim, has four-wheel drive, a maximum output of 664 horsepower, and a maximum torque of 107.8 kgf·m. It takes less than 4.5 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour (about 97 km/h). At the same time, it can tow 4.5 tons with a load of about 590 kg. In particular, the RST First Edition is equipped with a glass roof that maximizes the sense of openness, providing both front and rear passengers with a wide view and a sense of open space.

In addition, △Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension △Multi-Flex Midgate that can increase cargo space while maintaining rear seat space △Multi-Flex Tailgate that provides maximum convenience when loading cargo Tailgate) △ 17-inch infotainment LCD screen, 14-inch instrument panel on the driver’s side, a head-up display that provides a view of 14 inches or more, △ GM’s hands-free driver assistance technology, Super Cruise, and many more.

The performance of the Chevrolet Silverado EV is thanks to GM’s exclusive electric vehicle platform, Ultium. The Silverado EV has a new body architecture based on the Ultimate Battery Pack consisting of 24 modules. Through this design, the Silverado EV provides strong on- and off-road driving performance along with the power, robustness, durability and performance that customers expect from a full-size pickup truck.

In addition, the 350kW class fast charging system can run 160km with just 10 minutes of charging based on GM’s own test. In addition, when using a separate accessory, it can charge other electric vehicles or supply a total of 10.2kW of power to up to 10 outlets, so it can be usefully used for camping or worksites.

The Silverado EV also comes with GM’s Ultifi vehicle integration software platform. Drivers may simply update vehicle software using the cloud-based platform, and they can pick, save, and link with other devices using user customization.

The Silverado EV will be manufactured in Factory Zero in Detroit, Michigan, beginning in 2023. GM invested 2.2 billion dollars (about 2.63 trillion won) in Factory Zero, a factory dedicated to creating electric vehicles.
